Patio - Phase II

When we left off last week, the ground was leveled for our new patio, and the gravel was spread out.

The next step was to get the forms built for the concrete to be poured into.

Then they put down the rebar (short for "reinforcing bar" - I looked that up!!). These are steel bars that will help strengthen and hold the concrete. They used brick pieces to hold the steel bars up off of the gravel.

On Saturday morning, the concrete truck showed up!

I had a front row seat to watch all of the action from the screened porch.

After they spread out the concrete and got it all smooth, they used this thing to make the lines.

After it was done, we let it dry for 24 hours before we could walk on it.

It's so BIG!!! It's a lot bigger than I thought it would be when Tim first spray painted the outline on the grass.

I really, really love it!  I can't wait until we can start using it.

I think we will have the fence put in this weekend (I sure hope so!) I'll be back with more updates!
